Given the current retrogression and the fact that you are from India, I would think 100 times before immigrating to US. I know this advice will be useless because you will probably think that "hey, look at this guy currently in the immigration queue and waiting for his GC, but advising my brother to do the opposite" - well, I have been in this rigmarole for too long to say that, if you have good opportunities elsewhere, think about them. If I knew about the problems of getting GC in US, I would definitely planned things a bit differently, just my 2 cents.

I dont have a lawyer anymore as I got laid off from the sponsoring company and working on a new company with EAD.
Guys, take it easy, if they deport you from the port of entry the world will not come crashing down....Always keep your head up high and walk upright....we are more educated and learned than most of the folks around the world...so why be afraid....Just be honest and tell the truth...and let time take its course...NO FEAR and HONESTY should be our motto in these times of trial!!!!

Is our fax campaign continuing or on hold for the time being?
We have learnt some lessons at the time of S1932. Our campaign was dead after HR4241 was passed and we were waiting for conference committe to be announced. This was the period when the campaign of NumbersUSA and FAIR actually peaked. They in fact advised members to stop faxes two days before the conference committee was announced. Their organizers knew how the conferences work and they finished work before the committee was formally announced.
Of course with QGA guiding us this time we are not going to repeat that mistake. Our campaigns should focus on senate and house separately & exactly when it is needed and must reach peak just at right time. With limited options available to us as 'aliens', actually meeting representitives or their staff should be the approach. One meeting is equal to ten faxes.

All you need is just apply for H1 extension and wait till USCIS gets back to you, if something happens, change you stat to EAD. I dont see any issues here.

There is expected to be another vote on Thursday evening to move towards limiting the debate on the Bill and a final vote is expected to be by Friday.
The bill have got more than 60 votes on the cloture motion. Under the "CLAY PIGEON" maneuver the likelyhood of this bill passing from the senate is very high. In order for this bill to pass it needs only 51 votes.

Sorry to read about your 485 being rejected. Mine was too, my lawyer sent the wrong fee. They tried a second and a third time and came rejected for incorrect fees. I have not tried the InfoPass because they state clearly that applications will be rejected for incorrect fees. I did a lot of crying and I am very angry at my lawyer. My PD is Jan 05. My daughter got robbed of the opportunity to work and who knows how long it will take. She will surely age-out. However, don't give up maybe things will change soon.

We need to get all these businesses to join together with Immigration voice and support us by lobbying and funding.
No Great H-1b will come here if its going to take 10-20 years to get a Green card.
I would suggest, lets have another action item to write to these companies about IV and ask for their help for Legal Immigrants that everyone needs.
This is a big thing that is missing so far.
See how the president of the Agricultural board, unions appear on TV asking for support for illegals and also get invited to Congress.
Definitely a good idea.........the first thing that needs to happen is for us immigrants to contact our own employers (and if it is a big company - they will have some section that deals with govt affairs/lobbying) ask them to support our cause through action.......
I work for a small company, but my employer is a very decent man and may provide some funds..........(Christmas season and all!).

I think it is best to get your H1B stamped in India and also carry AP with you (if possible) as a back up. Stamping in home country is the BEST and SAFEST. I do not know why so many people get it stamped in Mexico and Canada. Previously, when you could still enter US from Canada with a refused visa,it made sense, but now if they reject your visa you need to fly to India!!!
But, once you enter using your AP, can you switch back to H1B or you have to use your EAD?

These are all good suggestions and translate well from my film days. I also read that, whereas in b&w the adage was expose for the shadows and develop (or print) for highlights, in digital it is the reverse - expose to preserve detail in the highlights and then use your curves in RAW to fix the shadows where you want them. So I'll have to put all that to work this week / weekend. If the flowers stay around, that is.

You need to give more information about what whether your wife was able to file I-485 for your wife. If you are from a retrogressed country, then your wife was probably not able to file to adjust status. In that case, she is can change from H4 to F1. After the approval, her status is not dependent on yours, and you can start using EAD.
I filed my 485 in August and got married later and my wife is on H4 right now. I'm on H1 as of now. I'm not using my EAD right now, so that my wife can maintain her H4 status. I'm planning her F1 processing from H4, so that once she is on F1 officially, I want to use EAD to change employers.
Is there any risk involved here and if so, please let me know
